This was an emotional, yet inspiring book. Stella and Marshall have a love straight from a fairy tale. Everyone knows they should end up together … except Marshall. When he returns from combat, he’s lost his memory of those close to him, including his fiance Stella. The book follows their struggle to bring back Marshall’s memory, but also begs the question of if they can come back from his injuries to have the love they knew before.
For anyone who’s come to a crossroads in their relationship, this book will hit close to home. Stella has unconditional love for Marshall, but facing a future with someone who’s willing to marry her because he thinks he should isn’t enough for her. It’s emotionally draining at times to feel what she’s going through. On the opposite side, Marshall just wants to be a good guy and do the right thing. He’s just not sure that marrying Stella in his present state is the best for her.
The small town characters in this book make it endearing. Their unwavering faith makes it inspirational. All of the characters have wise words for the young couple that help them process their situation. It’s not preachy at all. It’s authentic and can be translated to so many other situations.
I definitely recommend this book. It’s wholesome but filled with “drama” that will pull the reader in and keep them going until the last page is turned.
