This book reminds me of the quote “Be the change you want to see in the world.” It is a story that shows what kids (and adults) can do to make the world a better place by engaging in small tasks that impact the people and community around them. Some lessons include taking care of oneself by eating well, being sustainable, taking care of others around you, etc.

It’s an easy read, so I strongly encourage young readers to read it aloud by themselves. The rhyming scheme makes this a bit more fun, too. I’d say the age range is 4-7; my 8 year old liked the book a great deal, but it was a bit too elementary for her reading level.

Another strong point with this book are illustrations. The style is a bit quirky, but is absolutely beautiful. I especially love the use of patterns throughout to make the images come to life. They are a great accompaniment to the suggestions for how kids can do little things to make a big change.

I absolutely recommend this book, and think it should be in every early childhood classroom (buy one for a teacher today!)
